KUO SU-LING

Ben's father's home village in Taiwan is Shi Su (Happy Tree).  As a noun, Su is Tree, and as a verb, it means to grow up or to build up.  Ling means peace and grace.  Therefore, Suling means to grow up to be a person of peace and grace. 

"Kuo" translates to "castle", but as a surname serves no meaning.
